IFF-Eurasia Board Meeting in Istanbul

On November 15, 2018, the annual Board meeting of the IFF-Eurasia Region was held in Istanbul with the participation of the Financial Director of the International Fur Federation (IFF) Kiran Makhmood and the Chairman of the Uzbek Association Uzcharmsanoat Sardor Umurzakov.

The meeting discussed the current situation in the fur industry and the prospects for its development in the member countries of the Region.

Kiran Mahmood spoke about the main priorities of the International Fur Federation for the next year, which include: Operation brands, aimed at preventing fashion brands from going fur free in future, the official launch of the international certification system Furmark in 2020, promoting natural fur as sustainable material, countering the aggressive policies of animal rights activists, as well as preventing political risks in sensitive countries (US, Israel), which discussed the fur ban.

On the basis of the application, it was decided to remove the Ukrainian Association of Furriers from the membership of the Eurasia Region and to introduce the Uzbek Association Uzcharmsanoat and the Afghan Association Karakul Institute into the Region.

The region currently includes the following countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan.
